The women’s wrestling has gone through a significant evolution over the years. It goes without saying that the quality of women’s wrestling is at its peak at the moment with WWE female wrestlers getting the utmost respect, screen time, and main event level storylines. From headlining WrestleMania to wrestling different stipulation matches, women of WWE are attaining new glory every passing day.

However, the scenario of women’s wrestling was drastically different a couple of decades ago. In the 1990s and 2000s,  female wrestlers were deemed as eye candies. Even though several proficient female talents competed at that time, fans were devoted to watching men’s wrestling more. Now, with the growing market of female wrestling,  the talents are entrenching their names in history with mesmerizing performances each week, both in the ring and on the microphone.

#30 Kaitlyn 

Coming from a bodybuilding and fitness background, Kaitlyn had the required look and fitness of a top-tier female talent in WWE.

Despite a career of four years of wrestling career, she had a significant influence in the Divas Era, with her feud against AJ Lee being the most memorable one. She won the Divas Championship once, making it her only title win in wrestling. 

#29 Brie Bella 

Brie Bella was the least popular one among the Bella Twins.  Nevertheless, her WWE career was stupendous,  even though she stayed under her sister’s shadow most of the time.

Her expertise as a competitor wasn’t more than ordinary, but she produced decent matches at times. Besides one-time Divas Champion, she is a WWE Hall of Famer.  

#28 Bull Nakano

Bull Nakano was one of the renowned WWE female wrestlers from the 1990s,  performing for various promotions. Her brief yet impactful one-year WWE run in the mid-90s was ample of giving her a legendary status in the women’s division.

The talented Japanese wrestler won the WWE Women’s Championship once, and her rivalry with Alundra Blayze was momentous, which she later recreated in WCW.  

#27 Gail Kim 

Gail Kim would be considered the best TNA Knockout of all time for her exemplary career there as the seven-time TNA Knockouts Champion.

Prior to her TNA career, she spent some years in WWE. She had two different spells in WWE with a WWE Women’s Championship to her name. 

#26 Jacqueline 

Jacqueline paved the way for black female wrestlers in the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era because the first-ever African American Women’s Champion in history.

Whereas the industry was still predominant on the good looks of WWE female wrestlers, Jacqueline showcased her craft and talent in the squared circle, capturing the WWE Women’s Championship twice. Following her Cruiserweight Championship win, she became one of the three women ever to hold the belt. 

#25 Maryse 

Maryse’s beautiful appearance was a reason why WWE pursued and brought her to the Divas division. With a modeling background,  Maryse didn’t have prior wrestling experience,  but she finished up with an illustrious WWE career.

She secured the Divas Title twice,  while she wrestled in a handful of mixed tag team matches in recent years after teaming up with her husband, The Miz.  

#24 Kelly Kelly 

Just like Maryse, Kelly Kelly was an eye candy among the biggest female wrestlers at that time. Her exposure to modeling at a young age prompted WWE to sign her in 2006. Kelly Kelly was popular among the WWE universe for her looks and risque segments named ‘Kelly’s Expose’. But she was a below-par wrestler, to say the least.

Later, she had shown improvement in the later of her WWE career, which gave her a championship run with the Divas Title. Despite her limited in-ring ability, Kelly Kelly’s popularity would place her among the greatest female wrestlers from the 2000s.  

#23 Torrie Wilson 

Torrie Wilson embarked on her wrestling career with WCW, but after the end of it in 2001, she signed with WWE, gradually turning her into an integral part of the company,  both as a manager and wrestler. The highlight of her six-year WWE career was the feuds with Sable, Stacy Keibler,  and Dawn Marie.

She was acclaimed for her great looks and attractive physique due to her history as a fitness competitor. Even though she is not a Women’s Champion, as a distinguished personality,  she would be recognized as one of the biggest female wrestlers of all time. 

#22 Stacy Keibler

Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson had an identical career trajectory, with both blonde-haired wrestlers starting their careers in WCW first. Stacy Keiber arrived in WWE in 2001, and she took the women’s division by storm with her brilliant screen presence,  good looks, and not to mention signature long legs.

Stacy wasn’t a good in-ring performer either, but she was one of the most popular divas at that time. Whilst she didn’t win the Women’s Championship, she earned the WWE Hall of Fame status in 2023 for a storied career.  

#21 Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszelr, a former UFC fighter, transitioned to professional wrestling and eventually arrived in WWE. As a dominant persona, The Queen of Spades had a stupendous run NXT, with two commanding NXT Women’s Championship reigns. 

Upon the main roster’s arrival, she had accolades of capturing the Women’s Tag Team titles three times.  Being one of the WWE female wrestlers at the moment, she could win the Women’s Championship sometime in her career.  

#20 Sable 

Sable was one of the biggest bombshells of both the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era. The blonde beauty’s personality and enticing look captured the audience’s attention, which was a big reason behind her popularity.

Sable and Torrie Wilson’s raunchy segments in the early 2000s helped boost ratings. Sable was a decent performer and a former WWE Women’s Champion.  

#19 Michelle McCool

Entering the wrestling business through WWE Divas Search, Michelle McCool, a former middle school teacher, had a stupendous journey in WWE. She was the only woman to remain in the WWE Women’s Champion and Divas Champion simultaneously.

McCool was a four-time champion, with the honor of being the first-ever Divas Champion. Following a remarkable career of five years on the main roster, McCool hung up her boots in 2011, even though she still makes favorite appearances. Interestingly, McCool is married to The Undertaker.

Victoria excelled in the WWE ring for almost a decade, starting her WWE career in 2000 and ending in 2009. The early 2000s saw the rise of Victoria, as she not only impressed fans with her in-ring skills but also her feud with Trish Stratus gave considerable spotlight to WWE female wrestlers.

Due to her earlier career in fitness,  Victoria had the unerring look of a wrestler, and her spectacular wrestling skills complemented her character. She won the Women’s Champion two times, placing her as the best female wrestler ever. 

#17 Alexa Bliss 

Alexa Bliss has had a size disadvantage in between the ropes, but she didn’t let it become an obstacle by turning into the ‘Five Feet of Fury’ of WWE.  The 32-year-old has been a WWE Superstar for a decade, starting her career in NXT.  After honing her skills for three years there, even though she didn’t win anything, she hit her peak following the main roster debut.

Nevertheless, she helped to reignite the women’s division by reinstating the WWE Women’s gold. 

She was an incredible wrestler, her rivalries with Bull Nakano and Bertha Faye were memorable ones from that era. For her contribution as one of the biggest female wrestlers of all time and from the 90s,  the three-time Women’s Champion was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame 2015.

#15 Nikki Bella

On account of her participation as the main lead of Total Divas,  a reality show produced by WWE, Nikki Bella garnered a lot of mainstream popularity beyond the wrestling ring. Even today, she is one of the most distinguished and biggest female wrestlers of all time in WWE.

Although she was an average wrestler, one-half of the Bella Twins finished her full-time career as a two-time Divas Champion, including the longest reigning title reign at 301 days. 

#14 Beth Pheonix 

Beth Pheonix, also familiar as The Glamazon of WWE, was a powerhouse during her heyday in the late 2000s and early 2010s. She had that inconceivable strength that allowed her to get physical with a handful of male wrestlers oftentimes. 

She set a standard among WWE female wrestlers, showing in-ring artistry, physicality, and resilience time and time again. While Beth was one of the few women to participate in men’s Royal Rumble, she won the Women’s Title four times, which includes a Divas Championship run.  

#13 Mickie James 

Mickie James has had success across promotions like WWE and TNA, but the former gave her fame in the wrestling world. She debuted as Trish Stratus’ obsessed fan-turned-stalker, which turned into a long-term rivalry culminating at WrestleMania 22.

In the following years, Mickie James was one of the top stars on the roster, ending up with six Women’s Championship reigns.  Considering Mickie is among the six women to win the prestigious women’s title at least six times, she deserves to be among the biggest female wrestlers of all time.  

#12 Asuka

In the list of the greatest NXT WWE female wrestlers of all time, Asuka would top it for a dominant undefeated run in the development brand. Even though her main roster run hasn’t been as impactful as the NXT one, she would still be counted among the greatest of any generation.

The Japanese wrestler is a Grand Slam Champion, with the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championship and the Women’s  Tag Team Championship on the title cabinet. Apart from the title triumphs, Asuka is a Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank winner.

#11 Paige 

Paige, who goes by the name Saraya at the moment in AEW, made a lasting imprint in WWE despite a relatively short career that ended with a neck injury. As a two-time Divas Champion, the British star holds the record as youngest Women’s Champion ever. She made a huge statement on her RAW debut, winning the Divas Title in her debut main roster match.

A career-threatening injury forced for her to discontinue the WWE journey at the age of just 24. Fortunately,  she restarted her wrestling career with AEW and remains the only former WWE female wrestler to win the AEW Women’s Championship and WWE Women’s Championship.

#10 AJ Lee

We talk about the women’s revolution started by the four Horsewomen of WWE. However,  the seeds for the movement were planted by AJ Lee, regarded as the lodestar of the women’s revolution in the Divas Era. #8 Rhea Ripley

Bianca Belair is the strongest, fastest, and toughest.  She lives up to her ‘EST’ nickname, showing she is one of the most magnificent female Superstars to ever enter the WWE ring. Her athleticism through Crossfit is seen every week in WWE, with Belair gradually building her legacy. 

The EST not only won the Women’s Championship a handful of times, but she also mainevented WrestleMania 37 and became a Royal Rumble winner in 2021. 

#6 Chyna 

There was a reason Chyna was named the ‘Ninth Wonder in the World’, with the eighth one being Andre the Giant. The imposing physique, unbelievable strength, and unmatched confidence took her to heights that no one had previously reached in WWE.

She gave her male counterparts a run for money by participating in men’s Royal Rumble and winning the Intercontinental Champion, making her the only woman in history to win the prestigious title. She decimated the women’s division in the Attitude Era because no woman was able to go toe-to-toe with her. 

#5 Sasha Banks 

Sasha Banks might have left WWE due to creative differences, but she would continue to be one of the greatest WWE female wrestlers ever for her superior skills. The Boss had a flourishing WWE career that lasted a decade.

Banks is a Grand Slam Champion. Her six Women’s Championship reigns speak volumes.

#4 Lita 

Lita’s good looks combined with in-ring proficiency turned her into a total package of the women’s division. Her feud with Trish Stratus gave a new direction to the women’s division. 

Lita was one of the two women to main event RAW for the first time. While her talent in the ring made her a four-time Women’s Champion, her sharp tactical brain also her an effective manager. 

#3 Becky Lynch 

The Man already has had a Hall of Fame worth WWE career and is considered among the biggest female wrestlers of all time. Her competency on the microphone, accurate facial expressions, and elite-level ring expertise have made her a legend of the division at the age of 36.

If headlining WrestleMania 35 was the grandest achievement of her career, Becky Lynch‘s title haul already consists of six Women’s Championships and a Women’s Tag Team Championship, which makes her a Grand Slam Champion.  

#2 Trish Stratus 

Trish Stratus was the wrestling love of every boy from the WWE female wrestlers in the 90s. But the Canadian wrestler was more than an eye candy. Despite no prior wrestling experience, Stratus was determined to learn the craft of professional wrestling and cement her legacy as the greatest, which the WWE Hall of Famer eventually did. 

With seven Women’s Championship reigns, Trish Status holds the record of second most individual Women’s title wins.
