WWE Championship is the most prestigious prize in WWE, which has been around since the inception of the company five decades ago. On the other hand, the newly introduced Universal Championship is another world title. Previously, the World Heavyweight Title was a world title, but it was discontinued by the company. When a Superstar signs for the company, his ultimate goal remains to win the world title one day.  Once a Superstar becomes a WWE World Champion, he not only elevates his stature but also gets in the main event scene consistently.

Over the years, we have had many WWE wrestlers with most world titles, placing them in history. In every era of WWE, the fans have seen certain Superstars holding the coveted prize multiple times. From Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, John Cena to Brock Lesnar, many such legendary names of WWE have made world titles relevant. When WWE introduced weekly shows like WWE RAW and WWE SmackDown, world titles started becoming parts of both brands.

#5 The Rock (10 Reigns)

The Rock received a significant push from the beginning of his WWE career, which was a reason he was in the WWE Intercontinental Championship picture. After the resurgence of himself from Rocky Maivia to The Rock, he started getting over and resulting in to push him in the WWE Title picture. His rivalry with Stone Cold Steve Austin defined the Attitude Era, and he won the majority of his world titles in this time frame. 


The Rock has the fifth-most number of world title reigns in WWE, as he has won the belt ten times in his career. After wrestling full-time, he came back for a brief run in 2013 when he won the WWE World Championship for the final time from CM Punk and dropped to John Cena at WrestleMania 29. Despte a career of less than a decade as a full-timer, The Rock is one of theWWE wrestlers with most world titles.

#4 Edge (11 Reigns)

Edge was a tag team specialist when he started his career in WWE, winning many tag team titles with Christian. He was also part of the popular stable called The Brood. However, his singles career started to bloom in the Ruthless Aggression Era. The Rated R Superstar won his first-ever World Title at 2006 New Year’s Revolution, where he cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on John Cena to win the WWE Championship. 

After clinching the title, Edge never looked back in his singles career. He went on to win an astonishing ten more world titles in the next five years until his retirement in 2011. While won such a record number of titles, all his title reigns were comparatively short.  

#3 Randy Orton (14 Reigns)

Randy Orton is one of the greatest legends of the business, whose celebrated career has spanned nearly two decades. Starting his WWE career in 2002, The Viper is still an active and full-time Superstar. With such a length career, it is apparent that he has won many world titles in his career.

Orton stands joint second in the list of WWE wrestlers with most world titles. Over the years, he has won the World Heavyweight Championship four times, while the WWE Championship ten times, with the recent being last year. Meanwhile, Orton was also the youngest world champion in WWE history, winning the World Heavyweight Title at the age of 24. 

#2 Triple H (14 Reigns)

Similar to Randy Orton, Triple H also has fourteen world title reigns to his name, making him the second joint place holder in this list along with his former Evolution stablemate. Having been wrestling for over twenty-five years in WWE, it’s not surprising to see him in second place on this chart. However, he hasn’t been an active Superstar for years, but he was simply one of the biggest faces of the company in his prime, whether in the Attitude Era or the Ruthless Aggression. 

A majority of world title reigns took place back in the late 1990s and throughout the 2000s when he was the leading heel of the business. The Game’s last WWE Championship reign was in 2016, as he won the gold after winning the 2016 Royal Rumble match and dropped it at WrestleMania 32. With his astounding accomplishments, Hunter is one of the WWE wrestlers with most world titles.

Well, it’s no surprise to see John Cena at the top, and most of the WWE Universe is certainly aware of the record. Although WWE also recognizes Ric Flair with an equal 16 world title reigns, he won only two world titles under the WWE banner, and hence, his inclusion makes little sense in this list. John Cena has toiled hard to capture the WWE World Titles a record sixteen times in his illustrious career, which has lasted nearly two decades.


The Leader of Cenation captured the gold for the first time in 2005, and he never looked back afterward, cementing his place as the poster body of WWE. Other than winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title thrice, he won the WWE Title separately thirteen times. His final run with the title was back in 2017. Given that Cena is 46 years old, he might end up having another WWE Championship reign in the future, which will allow him to break Ric Flair’s record.
